We believe women have important and unique contributions to make in defining our technological future.
The Office of Women Student Affairs (OWSA) at Kettering University is committed to making sure that women students have access to the resources and tools necessary to their academic and professional success.
OWSA was created because Kettering acknowledges the social and cultural conditions that inhibit women's pursuit of academic degrees in engineering, science, and mathematics. These conditions limit opportunities for acquiring knowledge and discourage women from pursuing careers in engineering and technology.
The objectives of OWSA are:
- Increase the number of women who enter Kettering University
- Current female enrollment at Kettering: 18%
- National average in "most successful" programs: 21%
- Kettering's long-term goal for women students: 30%
- Increase the number of women who stay at Kettering
- Current freshman-to-sophomore retention at Kettering: 80%
- National average among benchmark schools: 85%
- Graduation rate among women engineering undergraduates at benchmark institutions: 87%
- Graduation rate among women at Kettering: 71%
- Provide women undergraduates with resources and services to ensure their academic and professional success
